Senior Operations Manager (Horticulture)

A major European supplier of salad (the site is over 600 hectares) needs an Operations Manager for the site in Murcia. You will be reporting directly to the General Manager and be responsible for the leadership and management of the Operational Team. This is a senior role, potentially leading to a Board appointment. You must have excellent people management skills and an astute commercial awareness with experience of growing crops. This will be a challenging position, drawing on a range of skills, and you must be a confident leader and communicator, willing to drive and develop the Operations team. You must also be an innovative thinker, as you will be making key decisions. You will need to have excellent financial understanding and good IT skills. Main duties involve the planting, drilling, growing and harvesting of all the crops grown, and the improvement & development of production and growing techniques. In addition you will have Health & Safety accountability for the safe condition and the use of the site and equipment. This includes ensuring that the harvested crop is “safe” for harvest, ensuring staff familiarity with the Company Food Safety Rules & Procedures and staff familiarity and compliance with Health and Safety Notices and ‘Operating Procedures’. The ability to speak Spanish would be advantageous but not essential. Very competitive salary, company car, healthcare etc and excellent career prospects.
